Data controller. NeverBored (never-bored-again.com) is operated by Julius Beckereit ("we", "us"), currently run as a non-commercial individual project (not a registered company). 1. What we collect, and why
Below is every category of personal data NeverBored can collect, listed individually so it's clear what each one is for. Most fields below are optional, you only need an email and password to create an account; everything else you choose to add.
Name. If you enter your name in your profile, we store it to personalize your account and display it where you'd expect (e.g. your profile, reviews you post). Used for app functionality and personalization only.
Email address. Required to create an account and log in. Also used to contact you about your account and, only if you've separately opted in, for newsletter-style updates about NeverBored. You can unsubscribe from any marketing email at any time.
Phone number. An optional profile field. If you provide it, it's stored as part of your account for app functionality; we don't call or text you with marketing.
City / where you live. An optional profile field (the city or area you tell us you're based in), used for app functionality and to personalize suggestions to your situation. This is different from the precise GPS location described below.
Nationality. An optional profile field. We ask for this only if you choose to provide it, purely to personalize suggestions (e.g. cuisine you might enjoy). We treat this as sensitive information: it is never shared with advertisers, never used to profile or discriminate, and you can delete it from your profile at any time.
Precise location (GPS). If you tap "Share My Location", your exact GPS coordinates are sent to us to power distance-based features (e.g. showing venues within a radius you choose, or sorting by real distance). Important: this precise location is not linked to your account or identity, it is stored against a random, anonymous visitor ID, used only to power that feature, and not built into a long-term profile of your movements. You can decline this at any time in the app or your browser/device settings; all other features keep working without it.
Profile picture. If you choose to upload a photo, it's stored and shown on your profile and, where relevant, next to content you post (e.g. reviews). Purely optional and used for app functionality/personalization.
Search history & quiz activity. We log which searches, quiz questions, and answers you interact with (e.g. cuisine picked, budget selected, categories browsed), so the app can show relevant results during your session and so we can understand, in aggregate, what our users are generally looking for. Used for app functionality and analytics, not sold or shared with advertisers.
User ID / account identifier. Every account and every anonymous visitor gets an internal identifier used purely to keep your data (like saved picks or session state) connected to you technically. This is an internal technical identifier, not something shared externally.
Product interaction data. We log actions like opening the app, tapping a link, liking or saving a venue, marking a venue visited, running a search, starting a quiz, and similar in-app interactions. This is used for analytics (understanding how the app is used and improving it) and for personalization (e.g. suggesting venues similar to ones you've engaged with before). This data is tied to your account if you're logged in, or to your anonymous visitor ID if you're not.
2. No advertising, no tracking, no data selling
NeverBored does not show third-party advertising, and does not use advertising networks or data brokers. None of the data listed above is used to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and none of it is shared for cross-app/cross-site advertising purposes. We do not sell your personal data to anyone. The only recipients of your data are the infrastructure providers listed in Section 5, who process it strictly on our behalf to run the app.
3. Google Places
Some venue information and photos shown in the app are sourced from the Google Places API, used under an official, licensed API agreement with Google. Your use of features that rely on this data is also subject to Google's own terms and privacy practices.
4. Why we process this data (legal basis)
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), for precise location data, profile fields you choose to add (name, phone, nationality, city, profile picture), and marketing emails. You may withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Contract / pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b)), for account features, saved picks, and content you submit.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)), for basic visit analytics, search/quiz activity analysis, and service improvement, balanced against your rights; you can object at any time (see Section 8).
5. Cookies & local storage
We use your browser's local storage (not third-party advertising cookies) to remember: your visitor ID, language preference, theme preference, saved picks, and whether you've already responded to the location prompt (so we don't ask you again). You can clear this at any time via your browser settings, which will reset these preferences.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. Data is processed by infrastructure providers acting on our behalf under data processing agreements, currently:
- MongoDB Atlas, database hosting
- Netlify, website/app hosting and serverless functions
- Google Places API, venue data and photos (see Section 3)
These providers may process data on servers located outside the European Economic Area (e.g. the United States). Where this occurs, we rely on their standard contractual safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) for the transfer.
7. How long we keep data
Visit/analytics data is retained only as long as needed for the purposes above. Account data and content you submit are kept until you delete your account or request deletion. Precise GPS location sent via "Share My Location" is used to power that session's features and is not retained as part of a long-term, identity-linked profile.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to: access the data we hold about you; request correction or deletion; restrict or object to processing; request data portability; and withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. As we are established in Lower Saxony, Germany, the competent authority is the Landesbeauftragte fรผr den Datenschutz Niedersachsen (LfD Niedersachsen), www.lfd.niedersachsen.de. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you may also contact your own local data protection authority.
9. Age requirement
NeverBored is rated for users aged 13 and up, in part because the app includes user-generated content (reviews) and references to venues serving alcohol (bars, clubs, nightlife). NeverBored is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. See our Terms & Conditions for the minimum age to create an account.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data (e.g. encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access-restricted admin systems). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the "last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of NeverBored (never-bored-again.com), operated by Julius Beckereit ("we", "us", "NeverBored"). By using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. What NeverBored is
NeverBored is a discovery tool that suggests restaurants, bars, clubs, activities and other venues based on your answers to a short quiz, your location, and other preferences. We curate and periodically verify listings, but we are not the owner or operator of any venue shown in the app.
2. Accuracy of information
We do our best to keep opening hours, prices, addresses and other venue details accurate and up to date, but venues change their hours, prices, and offerings without notifying us. We cannot guarantee that any venue will be open, available, or exactly as described at the time you visit. Always double-check critical details (e.g. opening hours, reservation requirements) directly with the venue for anything time-sensitive or important to you.
3. Accounts & minimum age
Creating an account is optional and only needed for features like saved picks, reviews, and venue suggestions. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when registering. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use NeverBored; the app includes user-generated content and references to venues serving alcohol (bars, clubs, nightlife) and is rated accordingly.
4. Your content (reviews & suggestions)
When you submit a review, rating, or venue suggestion, you confirm it's your own genuine experience/opinion and not misleading, defamatory, or infringing on anyone's rights. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and moderate that content within the app. We reserve the right to remove or decline to publish any content at our discretion (e.g. spam, abuse, clearly false information).
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: misuse the app to harm, harass, or deceive others; attempt to access data or systems you're not authorized to access; scrape or bulk-extract data without permission; or use the app for any unlawful purpose.
6. No warranty / limitation of liability
NeverBored is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for any loss, disappointment, expense, or damage arising from your visit to a venue recommended through the app, including but not limited to closed venues, incorrect information, or your experience once there. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g. liability for fraud or for death/personal injury caused by negligence).
7. Third-party links
The app links to third-party websites and services (e.g. venue websites, reservation platforms, Instagram, TikTok). We don't control and aren't responsible for the content, policies, or practices of these third parties.
8. Intellectual property
The NeverBored name, logo, design, and original app content, including its concept, layout, quiz logic, and underlying software, are our property or used under license, and may not be copied, reproduced, reverse-engineered, or used to create a derivative or competing product without our prior written permission. Venue photos and content belong to their respective owners.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to accounts that violate these Terms. You may stop using the app or delete your account at any time.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your own country of residence if you are a consumer based elsewhere in the EU.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

We want NeverBored to be usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.
Our approach
We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA where practical, including reasonable color contrast, readable text sizing, and support for standard screen readers and browser zoom/text-scaling. As a small, continuously evolving app, we don't yet claim full conformance, accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix.
Known limitations
Some embedded third-party content (e.g. Instagram/TikTok posts, interactive maps) is provided by external services and may not fully meet the same accessibility standards we aim for in the rest of the app.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, completely free, no ads, no subscription. Creating an account is optional and only unlocks extra features like saved picks and reviews.
Your answers (cuisine, budget, atmosphere, timing, distance, etc.) are matched against tags we've carefully assigned to every venue. We deliberately keep the results to a small handful (usually 3โ5) so you're not stuck scrolling through dozens of options.
Only if you choose to share it, it lets us show real distances and suggest places that are actually close to you right now, instead of a generic neighborhood list. You can always decline; everything else keeps working.
We filter out venues that will be closed at the time you plan to go, based on their opening hours and the time you select in the quiz. Opening hours can change on the venue's side without us knowing immediately, so it's always smart to check if something is time-critical.
Open the menu (โฐ) โ "Suggest a Venue". Our team reviews every suggestion before it goes live.
Yes, like a card during the quiz, or tap the heart icon on a venue's detail page. Log in to keep your saved picks across devices.

Delete Your Account & Data
This page explains how to delete your NeverBored account and what happens to your data. It is publicly accessible, you do not need to be logged in to read it.
How to request deletion
You have two ways to delete your NeverBored account:
- In the app: log in, open your profile (tap your avatar), and tap "Delete my account" near the bottom. You'll be asked to confirm, then it happens immediately.
- By email, if you can't access the app: send a message to neverboredmain@googlemail.com with the subject line "Delete my account", sent from the email address associated with your account so we can verify it's really you. We will confirm your identity if needed and process the deletion, normally within a few days and no later than one month, as required under GDPR.
What gets deleted
Once your deletion request is processed, the following is permanently removed:
- Your name, email address, phone number, nationality, city, and profile picture (if you added any of these)
- Your saved picks and visited venues
- Your account login credentials
- Any planned days you saved
- Themed lists you created, and your account's link to lists shared with you
What may be retained, and why
A small amount of data may be kept even after account deletion, for legitimate reasons:
- Reviews you posted. To keep the community's review history intact for other users, your review text may remain, but is disconnected from your name/account and shown as posted by a deleted user, unless you specifically ask us to remove the review text itself too.
- Anonymous, aggregated analytics (e.g. that a search or quiz happened) that was never tied to your name or email in the first place, this cannot be traced back to you and isn't personal data once your account is gone.
NeverBored does not process payments or billing, so there is no invoice/transaction data that we're legally required to retain.
